What is the story behind Moo Valley Artisan Gelato?
Moo Valley Artisan Gelato was founded by Alice & Jonathan Gillespie in May 2023. We always wanted to do something creative with our own produce from our family run, dairy farm so with that in mind, we decided to start creating our own gelato. Our main aim was to make something delicious, using fresh, local ingredients wherever possible and avoiding any artificial ingredients.

Moo Valley Artisan Gelato boasts an extensive selection of flavours, from classic favourites like Vanilla and Honeycomb to more unique seasonal offerings such as Rhubarb Crumble. We are constantly experimenting with new and innovative flavour combinations, using only the highest quality ingredients to ensure an exceptional taste experience. How is Moo Valley Artisan Gelato made?
At Moo Valley Artisan Gelato, we take great pride in producing a gelato which contains high quality ingredients. Each batch is handmade from the initial stage of creaming our own milk, to handmaking our own “mix,” to putting it through our small machine, ending with individual pots, ready to enjoyed by you. We use a slow-churning method to incorporate air gently, resulting in a smooth, dense texture that is distinctly different from traditional ice cream.
What makes you so different to any other gelato/ice cream producer?
We are delighted to say we have never heard of anyone else in Northern or Southern Ireland doing exactly what we do. (Please let us know if you have)
We take the milk fresh from our bulk tank, which has been produced by our cows the same day and seperate the cream. We then use this as the base for our mix alongside full fat milk. There are no stabilisers, additives or any artificial ingredients added. We use our eggs from the children’s pet hens as a natural stabiliser, add sugar and vanilla to create the base for our vanilla based flavours.
